Flexus 2016 opens on September 19 and 20 at Threes Brewing and closes on Sunday September 25 with our concert honoring John McNeil with FONT Music’s Award of Recognition.
Festival Highlights
- Wadada Leo Smith and Taylor Ho Bynum share a night with their large ensembles.
- Marquis Hill reprises Signatures in Brass, with new music thanks to our Roy Campbell, Jr. commissioning fund, at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola. Trumpeters joining Marquis are Theo Croker, Maurice Brown, Jason Palmer, Darren Barrett & Ingrid Jensen.
- Two nights of performances by Visionaries include trumpeters Nadje Noordhuis, Kenny Warren, Ralph Alessi, Aaron Shragge, Eli Asher, and Shane Endsley.
- Explorations in New Brass Music features the Brooklyn Brass Quintet and The Practical Trumpet Society on September 23.
